This is a pretty good price for a decent name brand, full size multi-tool if you're unable/unwilling to pay the often stratospheric prices for an equivalent model from Leatherman. It's definitely a notch or two lower in quality than a Leatherman or Sog, but it's perfectly adequate for most people (I own both this and the LM Wave).

An alternative would be one of the Chinese Wave clones (eg Bibury), for about the same price. I also own one of those and would rate it ahead of the Gerber NXT. But if you want an affordable multi-tool, don't get too hung up on all the internet chatter from self-appointed multi-tool "experts". This Gerber is a fine option.

I use a gerber dime keychain multi tool for years. It was broken once. Contacted gerber, and they send me a new one without asking questions. Great service!

If you are patient, SOG tools sometimes go on sale. I got a SOG PowerAccess on sale for about $30. It has held up really well.
