This 16 inch DCK cordless chainsaw stands out as a cheap backup saw, especially because the kit includes a 58V 4.0Ah battery and charger. The bundle looks strong value wise, with the battery alone priced around $169.99 and the Oregon bar and chain worth about $40. It cuts quickly with good chain speed, and the extra unit can serve as a spare battery or a saw kept at another location. The main drawbacks are its heavy weight, modest battery life, and occasional assembly or chain tensioning hassles, so it fits best as an occasional use backup.
Common Questions (5)
It is a strong value for occasional or backup use because similar cordless saws are usually over $150, and the kit includes the saw, battery, and charger. The included 16-inch Oregon bar and chain alone are about $40, and the battery is reportedly sold separately for $169.99.
Yes. Buying a second kit is effectively a cheap way to get another 58V 4.0Ah battery, which can be useful as a backup or to keep a saw at a second location. That matters because replacement batteries can cost more than the whole deal.
It cuts quickly with good chain speed and no cutouts, and the build quality is described as solid. Battery life is decent but not exceptional, and the saw is heavy enough that it may be awkward for smaller users.
The tool-free chain tensioning can be a little annoying at first, but it assembles like a typical tool-free chainsaw. Holding the bar slightly forward while tightening helps keep the chain seated in the bar.
Yes. The coupon can be applied twice, which makes buying two kits a practical way to get a spare saw plus an extra 58V 4.0Ah battery and charger for about $118 delivered before tax.

Get a reputable company who will support with replacement batteries.
Otherwise, don't get the DCK.
The 60v Toro is a great deal at $129 if I wasn't in the Ryobi 40v universe.

Literally no one is buying this chainsaw as a long-term, ecosystem investment. While possible, I find it extremely unlikely that two chainsaws and two batteries will crap out within a decade of casual, infrequent use.
Not everything needs to be a BIFL purchase. The better recommendation is to find a friend with a decent collection of nice tools and willingness to teach you to use them correctly in exchange for a sixer of beer and your good company.
