Bosch's 12V Max combo kit stands out as a compact, lightweight platform for everyday drilling, driving, and furniture assembly. The batteries alone are cited at about $68 at Lowe's, and the same batteries also work with Bosch 12V Dremel tools, adding value across a small tool ecosystem. The kit is described as plenty powerful for most household jobs, easy to use in tight spots, and handy on ladders or as a car backup. The main caveat is that this version is brushed, not brushless, and the drill can feel front heavy.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. It is reported to handle typical around-the-house drilling, furniture assembly, and most DIY tasks while staying lighter and easier to handle than larger 20V tools. The smaller size also makes it useful on ladders and in tight spots.

  • The Bosch 12V tools are lighter and more compact, and many tasks do not need the extra heft of larger 18V or 20V drills. Larger tools are still preferred when more size, hammer function, or extra chuck capacity is needed.

  • These are brushed models, not brushless. The brushed version is still reported to be plenty powerful for typical around-the-house drilling and DIY work, and the newer set's impact driver adds a speed selector for better screw control.

  • Yes. The batteries alone are cited at about $68 at Lowe's, and the same set is mentioned at $189 on Amazon, so $99.99 is a strong price for the kit. It is also described as a good buy for adding to an existing Bosch 12V lineup.

  • Yes, Bosch 12V Max batteries are interchangeable with Dremel 12V tools. That lets you expand the same battery ecosystem and can make it cheaper to add tools like a Dremel oscillating kit with charger and batteries.

I bought this few years ago. This is my go-to set for Ikea/amazon self assembly furniture.

Have had these for 5 years now and love them. Recently found out that the dremel 12v tool batteries are interchangeable and was able to grab the dremel oscillating tool with charger and two batteries for around $70 at lowes. Nice to have an extra charger and 4 batteries to rotate through the 3 tools.

Great deal on this set. I have the same kit and use it as often or more than my larger 18v tools. Great when working on a ladder as they will fit in my tool pouch and are not heavy!

I have both a full line of M18 tools, and most of the Bosch 12v tools. I go with the Bosch tools most of the time because they are lighter and plenty powerful for most tasks. Mine are old, so they are the brushed models. For $100, this is a great deal.

Brushed motors are great. They are unmatched for trigger control - a fact everyone overlooks as they scream nOT bRUsHleSs

Bought this set for $100 on sale years ago, great set to have around the house. I'm pretty impressed with the battery life. I've had the drill out in the shed for about a year right through this past winter. I've used it quite a bit and still had a solid charge when I went to use it the other day.

A couple downsides I notice... The weight distribution on the drill is a bit front heavy. Also, you can't stand it up on it's battery when you need to put it down for a second. Other than that they're awesome.

I have both the brushed, now at work, and brushless sets of these tools, these had been sold for this price on fathers day for about the same price, but Id jump on the one now. the newer set does have a speed selector for the impact driver for wood, and its useful not to overdrive screws, but otherwise I dont see a big difference in performance. I also have the hex version of the drill and the mini-sabre saw, this set gets about 90% of my work done at both places, but i've upgraded to 2ah third party batteries for a little more kick on the impact drivers
