Bosch's 12V Max combo kit stands out as a compact, lightweight platform for everyday drilling, driving, and furniture assembly. The batteries alone are cited at about $68 at Lowe's, and the same batteries also work with Bosch 12V Dremel tools, adding value across a small tool ecosystem. The kit is described as plenty powerful for most household jobs, easy to use in tight spots, and handy on ladders or as a car backup. The main caveat is that this version is brushed, not brushless, and the drill can feel front heavy.
The compact 12V tools fit into tight spots and work well for ladder tasks without feeling heavy in a pouch.
The brushed models have been reported as reliable for DIY around the house over multiple years with original batteries still working.
The Bosch 12V Max batteries can interchange with Dremel 12V tools, enabling a Dremel oscillating kit purchase with charger and two batteries for about $70 at Lowe's.
The kit can serve as a practical backup or loaner drill kept in a car for quick access when lending or when out.
The brushed version is not brushless, and some buyers prefer brushless tools for around-the-house drilling.
The drill can feel front-heavy and it cannot be stood upright on its battery when it needs to be set down briefly.
The brushed lineup lacks an impact driver, which can limit usefulness when impact driving is required.
The plastic battery cases on the brushless version can split early on, even if the issue stays cosmetic.

A couple downsides I notice... The weight distribution on the drill is a bit front heavy. Also, you can't stand it up on it's battery when you need to put it down for a second. Other than that they're awesome.
