Apple's Leather Link band is a convenient magnetic leather strap that stays secure and works well for everyday wear. The newer magnets hold firmly, and long term wear looks solid for some, with the outer leather holding up well even after months or years of use. Fit is the main caution, since the S/M size is for smaller Apple Watches and the band may click in without sitting flush on the edges. Water is another weak point, with reports of bubbling, odor, discoloration, and even ripping after extended use.
The leather link band can stay very secure because its newer magnets hold the clasp in place without moving.
The band can function after clicking into the watch, even when the fit is not perfect for every watch-size combination.
The band can show better long-term wear than knockoff Apple-lookalike bands, including fewer signs of wear and less skin irritation.
The band can hold up well under frequent workouts, with the blue exterior showing little fading while the brown underside may discolor.
The band may not sit flush on the watch edges, which can leave parts sticking out even though it clicks in.
Water exposure can cause odor and bubbling, including reports that submerging the leather makes it bubble even after treating it.
The S/M size can be too small for larger 46mm Apple Watch models, so watch size matching is important before buying.
The leather link band can rip within months of use, and one report also noted smell after it gets wet.
