The unit in this post is the "smart" version of the WD25TB4. It can be managed in the cloud based Dell Device Management Console, which requires the setup of a console account then some update policies and rules. The only real meaningful feature for a home user is that it then manages its own firmware updates in a way that is invisible to the user. Very nice feature, but if you're fine doing your own dock firmware updates occasionally via the Dell Command app, then you may just want to get the WD25TB4 which can usually be found for a little less. The cost for the unit in the post is pretty good though. It can be had for less on ebay, but that comes with the risk that it's been registered to someone elses DDMC which could prevent you from using the cloud functionality.
If you want to use the cloud ddmc, look into it before buying this and make sure you're ok with the setup steps. Its not hard but requires things an average home user may not be up for or even know how to do.
ALSO, there are thunderbolt 5 versions of both versions of this dock. It costs more, but if you need or want to future proof, keep that in mind.
