Pirate's Booty aged white cheddar puffs are a light, crunchy snack that works well for portion control and travel. The 70 calorie bags are easy to pack, do not stick in teeth like popcorn, and fit a salty snack craving with less fat than chips like Cheetos. Kids also seem to love them. The main knocks are that the flavor can feel very mild, and the newer recipe or redesign has left some with a worse taste than before.
The puffs can provide a crunchy, salty snack experience without getting stuck in teeth like popcorn.
The puffs are described as having only 70 calories per bag, which can support portion control.
The snack can be used as a road-trip option because a child reportedly enjoys it enough to stock up.
The snack is described as having less fat than some comparable favorites like Cheetos.
The puffs can taste very lightly flavored and may feel unsatisfying after eating.
A recipe change is described as disappointing, with the new recipe not meeting expectations.
A packaging redesign after acquisition is reported to change the taste, with some bags tasting like they contain "junk."
Subscribe & Save may not be a good deal when a one-time purchase with a $2.10 coupon totals $11.86.
