I wish these still had the storage space on the top, my ancient one does and I'm due for a replacement.

I bought this one. It has plenty of space in all rays to add additional extensions, more sockets, and wrenches. I also added tge 2-drawer Versastack box in the bottom for screw drivers, 1/2 impacts, a set of metric crows feet, picks, screwdriver and pliers so I had an automotive repair go setup.

These have 90 tooth ratchets better than any Sears Craftsman setup and roughly the same price as those similar size sets from 10-15 years ago.

Don't these go on sale for$99 at Lowe's from time to time?

You have to be careful with other brands their wrenches will stop at like 14mm.. maybe this does too? I kind of hate my hart brand one for that bs..

Or weird stuff like making 15 mm on a 1/4 ratchet..

I do have this set from Lowe's and I think it is normalized like it's supposed to be..

Calling it a mechanics set it kind of false advertising..

It lackes sizes like 32 mm I think. But I guess that cuts the weight also.

Probably want to hunt down Lowe's gift cards in advance then catch it on sale.

I don't know.. If I didn't have anything and wanted to buy something right now, I might be looking at the harbor freight suitcase set up.. I think it comes with pliers and other tools that a lot of these mechanics sets lack.

I wouldn't keep this set in the trunk.. probably some Walmart stuff I might though. Their stuff tends to be more compact.. And have other tools like crescent wrench, pliers.. Hammer..

90 T is only effective if properly combined with tight tolerances. The lubrication grease will harden over time, which increase slippage at heavy load. Arc swing has never been a problem with my 72 T ratchet. My go to 3/8" ratchet is the Harbor Freight roto ratchet. It delivers 87% of the peak torque of the Snap On while costing 88% less. It also boasts the best $ per ft-lbs among the tested ratchets. Dump the head in ATF for lubrication. Still going strong after 10 years of use.

A well built ratchet should always fail at the square drive.

The HF 1/2" impact set goes up to 32 mm. $18 to $25 when on sale. They are big and heavy...ideal for a little extra momentum with an impact gun.
