T-Mobile Fiber is a straightforward home internet option best known for low introductory pricing on 1 gig and 2 gig service, with some installs also including free eero hardware, gift cards, and multi year price locks. The fiber service is often described as symmetrical, fast enough for streaming, gaming, Zoom, and heavy uploads, and some installs even over provision above the advertised speed. The main concerns are availability, CGNAT on some setups, and uncertainty about whether price locks will hold. Installation can also involve trenching or drilling, so local build quality matters.

  • Households uploading large files or videos, because the symmetrical fiber plans can deliver equal upload and download speeds.

  • Remote workers needing a fast home connection, because the service has handled telework, Zoom, and work-from-home use adequately in some homes.

  • Families with heavy streaming and gaming, because the connection has supported multiple people using those activities at once without major complaints in some homes.

  • Shoppers wanting a simple 300 Mbps plan, because it has worked well and can speed up to around 500 Mbps.

  • People who need a routable public IP for hosting or remote access, because CGNAT can be a dealbreaker unless a static or bridged setup is available.

  • Buyers who need a price guarantee they can trust, because the company can change service names and price-lock promises may not hold.

  • Competitive gamers, because the service can be laggy and was described as not ready for gaming yet.

  • Homes where outages would be unacceptable, because the service has been down for entire days across multiple separate outages in one area.

Not available in most places... Plus T-Mobile has been pretty anti-consumer recently (i.e. not honoring their price locks and price guarantee) So i am not sure how good of a deal this is. AT&T has 1gb for $50 bucks +200 back as cash card. Sounds like a better deal to me...
Sadly I fell for the AT&T pitch at Costco a few months ago and switched from Tmobile because I needed a new phone and they had a deal that included phone payments in the monthly fee that worked out to only a couple dollars more than I was paying T-Mobile for just Service. Worst mobile service ever with AT&T!!! The entire first week I could neither receive or make calls. They would drop after the first ring. Today, same thing. My SIL tried to call me several times and it would disconnect as I picked it up. I tried to call back and one ring and drop. It's not like I don't know how to use a cell phone … I'm in the tech field. I finally had to use my landline. It's ridiculous for a company that's been in business longer than I've been alive to have issues with a technology that is not new. Unfortunately, I'm locked in for three years which really sucks.

I don't recommend their 5G home Internet.(it suggests that if fiber isn't available)
Doesn't play well with work from home authentication and gaming is super laggy. And I have a cell tower a few blocks from my house and still had issues
I get over 1g with but haven't tried multiplayer games yet

Are there any Fiber providers that don't use CGNAT? I'm pretty sure it can cause issues for some Internet providers using mesh systems like TP-Link Deco's. I want to like this, but there's so many different options and issues with some providers. Having to pick from TMobile, Race, AT&T and Frontier is hard with most companies treating thier customers like garbage. Can anyone comment on them?
This is a long thread so I'm not sure if anyone answered your question, but AT&T Fiber does not have CGNAT.

I have a routable IP address and in the 7 years I've been a customer my IP address has only changed once and I think that's because they upgraded my neighborhood to XGSPON.

Forget T-Mobile. As soon as starlink goes on sale I'm dumping home internet

And then I'm going to dump their cell phone service. Raising my price every 12 seconds

do they piggyback on Verizon fiber? i've never seen them lay any fiber down in NYC.

edit: just as i thought. T-Mobile Fiber isn't currently available at your location but you are eligible for T-Mobile 5G Home Internet.

The thing with this technology is that it shared the same IP address with everyone, hence, you can't do any webcam in the house.

Verizon home internet do not share IP address.

Was researching this recently cuz I'm about to ditch spectrum. Google was saying that the promotion pricing is not in conjunction with price lock so I worry the price will go up well before 3,5 however many years. I think I'm going go with another fiber provider that is like 65$ for 1 gig but has price lock guarantee explicity outlined

I was notified in September of 2025 that Metronet/TFiber was coming to my area soon. It's been a year and I've heard nor seen squat in the way of getting TFiber.

But this does remind me that I should chat with Xfinity and tell them TFiber is coming and I'd look to price match before deciding to leave.

I disagree. I'm in year six with TMo 5G Home Internet and it's been great here. And I work in IT and often work from home. But as I tell customers, YMMV because I don't know where you're putting the modem, the construction of your home and your relative location to towers.

I would really like to get t fiber but apparently because I have a business account opened with my ssn, I can't sign up for a postpaid account. It's unclear on whether closing the business account would let me open a personal account, but I don't really want to do that for the foreseeable future anyhow... I'm kinda surprised there isn't an alternative
Get an employer tax ID for your business (employees not required, solo-proprietor can also get it), switch the business account to that, then maybe personal account is possible?

Staff over here getting paid to make typos... Gigabit is abbreviated to Gb, not GB; that's gigabyte or Great Britin which either means you'd get a tiny data cap or T-Mobile is playing kingmaker.

So I've had Tmobile fiber for a year here in SC and I hate it. Apparently in my area they bought out Lumos which people loved before. I have had them all, google, AT&T and FioS. This is the worst fiber I have ever experienced. It has been down for entire days, for 14 separate days throughout my past year. I heard people discussing that it was because of them (tmobile) having bought up a bunch of local fiber lines in different areas, and trying to merge all the networks is what is causing the mess.

I see positive reviews, but it doesn't work where I live and I wish they would stop emailing, texting, and calling to try to sell it to me and then reiterate that it isn't available for me.
