I was curious as well, so I asked AI. Not claiming any of this information to be right or wrong. It is simply a response from AI:

One of the reviews that sounds legitimate does have pictures of the aluminum foil test. They knocked it one star as it worked better to have the foil slightly off the bottom, but no spacer is included with the unit.

Only hope is that they're selling under cost to drum up good reviews before increasing the price.

Bought it during previous sale for $12. I've been using it twice daily for the past almost 2 months. So far it has been working fine. I don't expect it to be a long lasting product given the cheap price. One of the commenters on that SD post said theirs stopped working after about 6 months and they contacted the company and they sent them a replacement. So I took my chances and bought it. Let's see how far I can take it before it breaks.

This one doesn't appear meant for cleaning anything metallic as it doesn't come with a plastic basket. You could devise your own spacer though.

Although the "purple" light is most likely a gimmick, it appears you can't use the UV light at the same time as the ultrasonic cycle?

It's not about size, it's that you're not supposed to have metal-to-metal contact with the inside of an ultrasonic cleaner.
