Mine leaks bar oil, and the switch only works 1/10th of the time. Meh.

Yea thats how your chains stay oiled.. didnt have bar oil on hand so I used gear oil instead. I remember hearing just about any oil should work, including vegetable oil.
I use mines with a 60V 8ah battery, cut down a 30Ft tree with ease and cut it down into smaller pieces for firewood and still had 2 bars left. Bought mine as a bare tool,

They leak A LOT of bar oil from the refill cap, you have to store or transport them on their side unless you want oil everywhere

This one leaks an obsessive amount of oil. Need to drain it once your done. Or it will get everywhere.

Can confirm that this unit does indeed leak all of its oil out over time. Not normal for a chainsaw. My Ego 16" leaks NO oil and is always ready to go.

That being said, this unit is handy for cutting down smaller trees and brush and its small size is its advantage. Can be wielded easily and makes those smaller jobs a lot more manageable than with a larger/heavier saw.

However once the trees get to like.. medium size.. you are gonna wanna use a larger saw.

Right tool, right job.

I bought this saw bare tool for $99 and it leaked oil everywhere. It was also was underpowered even using an 8Ah Powerpack. Even though I bought it for a great price, it returned. I also have Milwaukee M18 batteries so I bought M18 Fuel Hatchet for $200 with a spare. Even though the Hatchet has an 8" bar, it blows this Dewalt out of the water. I even saw a video of a guy using it with a 14" bar and chain, and it worked like a champ. The Hatchet also doesn't leak oil. If want to stick with Dewalt, buy the XR recip saw with some Diablo carbide pruning. It can do the saw thing this saw can, plus cut roots, plus cut pretty much anything else you want to with the correct blade. The other thing...recip saw blades don't leak oil.
