Wellsley Farms USDA Choice New York strip loin steaks are drawing attention as a strong $8 per pound beef deal, especially versus higher local steak prices. The cuts are described as solid for grilling, sous vide, and freezing, with some packs showing good marbling and others looking very lean. Availability is the main issue, since multiple stores sold out quickly and stock may disappear by midday. A dependable pickup if you can catch a restock early.

  • Home cooks batch-prepping steak dinners, because the strips sous vide well and still finish to a perfect medium after a quick sear.

  • Shoppers in high-beef-price areas, because the strip loin is priced far below comparable NY strip at another supermarket.

  • Grillers who want a straightforward weeknight steak, because the marbling can look good and the packs work well for BBQ with simple sides.

  • Buyers willing to shop early, because opening-time trips can find better marbling before the stock disappears.

  • Shoppers who need reliable same-day availability, because the steaks can sell out within minutes or be gone by noon.

  • Buyers expecting heavily marbled strip steaks, because some packs show very little marbling and look completely red.

  • People who want to freeze steaks and have them taste unchanged later, because thawed steaks are typically not quite as good as before freezing.

They aren't as bad as you make them seem. I shopped there exclusively in an area that didn't have a Sam's or Costco nearby and it was great. Their deli is awesome as well.
I think you just reiterated what I said - go there if you are in an area that does not have a Sam's or Costco. If that doesn't apply to your location I don't really understand what their selling point is.

I see very little marbling in these.. how sad. That's USDA choice for you, soon when Trump daddy's admin kicks out the USDA ratings.. who knows what you get.
Probably better chance to find some with more marbling if you go when they first open in the morning. But choice is choice. At least it's not select which in most cases is imported.

F BJs. Of course were sold out of ALL the Labor day sale items and that was this morning. Probably had 4 packages of meat per store at the sale price. What a joke. This crap wouldnt happen at Costco. Get your crap together BJs!

LOL. Oh BOO, they are too successful! There's a beef shortage, they run a sale and it sells out... we need to hate on them! They should be selling these for 50% more like Costco (huge Costco fan here, btw) so that it stays in stock. Gosh darnit.

Well you called it a garbage club. I definitely did not reiterate that it is "garbage" my point was the exact opposite actually.

Their selling point is that sometimes they have deals and promos that Costco and Sam's do not have. If you live in an area that has all 3, like I do now, memberships are cheap enough with certain deals that it makes sense to have all 3. I paid 27 bucks for my regular Costco membership, 50 bucks for Sam's Club premium and BJs premium was free through a Groupon promo.

Sam's and Costco also don't have delis.

Was at the North Canton store yesterday (the 5th) in the afternoon and they were completely out. The butcher said the supplier was out also. I would call before you go.

Sam's is hardly worth it either. Scan and go carries so hard for them.
I have both Costco and Sam's and we rarely go to Costco as Sam's has everything we need (and some at better prices than Costco), the parking is better, and say what you will about Scan-n-Go, but it's fantastic. I go Sunday at 8AM (during Plus Early hours) and no one is there, literally. I feel I've got the whole warehouse to myself! In and out in 10 minutes.

I am Sam's club , bjs , and was a Costco member previous and I prefer Sam's club meat department normally. I often find discounted steaks a few days before expiration and the prime rib burgers should be award winning imo. For 8$ a lb I'll be getting to bjs this week maybe today. Ty op!

Unfortunately my 2 most local stores are either sold out or don't have the deal available. I'm not sure if this deal is ymmv or not. I may take a ride to one a little further out.

Called the Merritt Island store. Deli girl said they were sold out by noon and the butcher was handing out rain checks. YMMV. Asked if there were any signs of marbling and she said they looked completely red. Supposedly another truck coming in for tomorrow. Maybe a future batch will be different.

These "clubs" make alot of money from membership dues. We always try to get the discounted ones on promo.

Strip Loin = New York steak?
Yes, NY Strip. Great price and in stock here in NYC. It's tough to get cheap beef at NYC prices. For comparison, another supermarket, ShopRite is selling Angus NY Strip for $18.99/lb.
