Wellsley Farms USDA Choice New York strip loin steaks are drawing attention as a strong $8 per pound beef deal, especially versus higher local steak prices. The cuts are described as solid for grilling, sous vide, and freezing, with some packs showing good marbling and others looking very lean. Availability is the main issue, since multiple stores sold out quickly and stock may disappear by midday. A dependable pickup if you can catch a restock early.
Shoppers can get NY strip steaks at $8 per pound while stores in NYC still show stock.
Sous vide followed by a quick sear can produce consistent medium results with these strip loin steaks.
Freezing extra steaks can still work well for later meals even though thawed meat may be slightly less good.
Some stores may restock on the last day, letting shoppers place larger sous vide and freezing orders.
Local stores can sell out within about 15 minutes of opening, making the deal hard to obtain.
Stores can be completely out and the supplier may also be out, so calling ahead can be necessary.
Steaks may look completely red with little marbling, which can disappoint even when the grade is USDA Choice.
Labor Day sale items can sell out quickly, and availability may feel worse than Costco for some shoppers.
