I was interested until I saw Newegg. I have bought their "refurbished" before and every one of them was DOA. I don't think they test anything, they just turn around and try to sell it again.

i got for cheaper than this like 3 years ago or so. If you are in for overpriced 9 year old tech....otherwise significantly newer and better can be found for maybe $100 more.

You certainly did not, esp. not with 16GB RAM. Neither this processor, nor this laptop arrived on shelves until Q1 2021, which was 5 years ago and not 9, and with the retail price of over a grand: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mic...455.0.html
According to you, 3 years ago, that is 2023, you got this for <$290? Yeah, that didn't happen because during that time even refurbished models weren't this cheap and only started to hit this price a year, or max 2 years, ago: At least it wasn't posted here on SD for significantly lesser than this: https://slickdeals.net/search?q=Microsoft+Surface+Laptop+4&searchtype=normal&filters%5Bforum%5D%5B%5D=&sort=recent&filters%5Brating%5D%5B%5D=all&filters%5Bdate%5D%5B%5D=-1&filters%5Bprice%5D%5Bmin%5D=&filters%5Bprice%5D%5Bmax%5D=294

Additionally, anyone willing and able to spend $100 more would not be looking in this price range to begin with, and then there would be some laptop that would be better than that for another $100, so this reasoning is weak. At this price you would hardly find a laptop with 16GB RAM, robust build quality, and this good of a display, esp. in a 3:2 ratio which perfectly fits people looking for laptops for productivity work primarily.

So, the model you got probably must have been the 3rd or 2nd generation of this. Be mindful when you're stating facts here.

My budget is 3-400... currently have an old surface i5-1035 g1. Would this be a good upgrade or any suggestions for the $300-400 range? Most graphic intensive work I do is photoshop, lightroom, orca slicer, capcut, divinci video. Thanks for any suggestions!
