This promo is a free Big Mac with a small qualifying purchase, and it stands out most as a cheap way to grab McDonald's signature sandwich. The deal is easy to hit with a drink or a small add on, and the app has shown regional prices and targeted offers as low as $1.76 or $2. The main drawback is the sandwich itself, which is repeatedly described as smaller than expected, heavy on bun and sauce, and not worth full price. It works best as a coupon driven lunch rather than a regular menu buy.
Common Questions (4)
The offer appears to be targeted and regional, with some locations showing no deal at all. Reports mention it in California and New York City, while checked locations in San Diego, Portland, and parts of New England did not show the same offer.
The advertised threshold is a $2+ purchase, and a drink or small add-on can be enough to qualify. Some locations show different minimums, including a $15 minimum purchase, so the app offer can vary by market.
A standard Big Mac contains 3.2 ounces of pre-cooked beef total, split across two 1.6-ounce patties. Several comments describe it as mostly bun or bread with less meat than expected, which is why the coupon deal feels more worthwhile than paying full price.
You can meet the $2 minimum by upgrading the Big Mac itself, such as adding extra patties or bacon, instead of buying a separate item. That makes it easier to trigger the free Big Mac offer if you were already planning to customize the sandwich.

Coincidentally, I bought a Big Mac meal yesterday. It was the first Big Mac I've had in probably a decade. I honestly think it's the best burger of all time. Just something about it, that sauce and the soft buns. Man, too bad I can't replicate this deal.
