According to old reviews Energy speakers are more neutral and flat, and these Jamos have V shaped response. But those reviews were done years ago or decades ago.. Then Jamo and Energy were sold to the same Chinese factory so we don't really know what's going on now.

I have the bookshelf version of this and for the price it's great. I suggest swapping to a better sub if you want to spend more money. The listed price is laughable but for $450 this is a hell of a system.

good deal for entry price. if you have a limited budget this is very good starter. otherwise save some money and look for sales on Klipsch RP line, svs, emotiva or RSL

All the low end home theater setups appear to cheap out on the sub. It is the piece that is most likely to blow out first in most set ups regardless ime.

Agreed, I'm definitely not an audiophile at all and could immediately tell the difference when I went to an Svs sub. Figured I'd want to upgrade the rest of the speakers and 4 years later have never felt the need to spend the money

I see those Dayton M6 for $300/pr on Parts Express. For gaming this Klipsch 2.1 setup would be as good or better for half that: https://a.co/d/0424ST7E

I'd still keep the C note in my pocket and go with the Klipsch if all you're gonna do is gaming. If you actually want better SQ for music, I'd pass on the Daytons and get a pair of these for just a little more: https://a.co/d/0gYfkB7D or their bigger brother, same price: https://a.co/d/0cL8DTek

Studio monitors = more accurate, higher SQ generally.

Sub hookup = if running off a PC, your soundcard should have a dedicated sub output. If running off a pre-amp, it should also have a dedicated sub output. If you don't have either, the best solution is to get one of these so that you can filter out the bass from the speakers and prevent "double bass" --- https://hsuresearch.com/products/bass-optimizer
