Looks awfully similar to my Dewalt saw. Made by same factory?
Nope. The DeWalt is made by Stanley Black & Decker. The cordless power tools in the Hart line we're made by TTi who makes brands like Milwaukee and Ryobi.
I wish it came with a battery. I suppose it's worthless sourcing a battery for this as it appears from comments above that this is a dead product line?
oh i guess hart was the old walmart brand, now they are hyper tough so i guess they are phasing out hart?
Yes, some time ago Hart/Walmart (Walmart owns TTI who makes Hart products) announced they'd be discontinuing the Hart brand. So back in the summer, in-store prices for closeout items - the whole line - were at terrific discounts, and went down regularly to lower prices. Deals like this may pop up now and then, but the great majority of Hart brand items are sold out for good. They're decent, kind of entry level DIY tools. The one big knock on them is batteries that don't last long, and dead batteries that won't accept a charge at all. Got a new, sealed 2ah battery that was dead out of the box and online methods to revive it were futile. The good news is that Hart shipped me a new one with very little hassle.

Walmart doesn't own TTI, TTI is a Hong Kong company that makes Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Ridgid power tools, along with Hoover, Oreck, and Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners. Walmart is switching to selling Greenworks tools instead.
as for the batteries, you might be able to find an adapter on like ebay to use other brand batteries.
I 3D printed an adapter for a Hart brushless circular saw but could not get it to run. the little on-board light turns on but not the main motor. some tools like the circular saw has 5 contacts but I wired only 3 because I there was minimal info about the battery circuit on the internet. I think some Hart tools like a fan or light may only use 2 contacts and simple battery adapters probably would work. not sure how many battery contacts this reciprocating saw uses...

Which file did you use so I know which one NOT to hassle with?
