Three modifications someone can do to this . One is to raise or lower the unit by adjusting them not on each end . Second is to wrap a thin bungee cord around the whole unit and around the handle to stop it from popping up and down and releasing nails as you go through bumpy Terrain . The third is to attach a 12-in or so long Harbor Freight black magnet to the back lower Edge as when you go over rough terrain or grass, nails are caught and then released like a fish but sucked on to the rear harbor Freight magnet . This function is actually included in magnetic sweepers costing over 80 bucks . Blue Streak makes one such as that . You can use the red adhesive double-sided tape sometimes called 3M tape to attach the magnet strip . For clarification the magnet strip is maybe about $7 and is mounted to the wall with two screws and is me to hold your kitchen knives or your metal tools .

Three modifications someone can do to this . One is to raise or lower the unit by adjusting them not on each end . Second is to wrap a thin bungee cord around the whole unit and around the handle to stop it from popping up and down and releasing nails as you go through bumpy Terrain . This one time i see these 2 girls with some magnetic sweepers, similar to this but without wheels, combing the park lawn. I watch them go all over the park. When I'm about to leave I go talk to them and ask them what they're doing. They said theyre looking for their keys that they dropped. as I walk away I wish them good luck and I look on the ground and say do you drive a VW? Are these your keys 😂

Thanks for the great advice (rep!), I didn't know why stuff would fall off when going over bumps, I figured it was scraping the ground but the handle bouncing up and down makes sense as that would release the magnet. I also considered adding a rear magnet but every one I found online was kinda expensive. Did not consider one of those tool holders which are often dirt cheap at HF or even LIDL.

Admittedly, I don't understand your first tip. How can I functionally adjust the height?

That one doesn't have a release handle to disable the magnet. You'd have to brush off the metallic debris with your hand.
