Vega Essential Protein is a vegan pea protein powder that stands out mainly for price and convenience, with some shoppers finding the chocolate flavor rich, not overly sweet, and acceptable in a blender. The deal math appears to depend on Subscribe and Save or a coupon, and the final price has been reported as low as $9.44. The biggest knocks are taste and texture, with repeated complaints that it tastes terrible and does not mix as well as other vegan proteins. A few also flag the low protein percentage and sodium, so it looks best for bargain hunters who already like pea protein.
Common Questions (3)
Taste is the main drawback: several comments describe it as one of the worst-tasting protein powders, with a chemical or chalky flavor. A few recent buyers say the formula may have improved and tastes closer to Orgain, so the flavor experience can depend on the batch or version.
The listed deal price appears to depend on Subscribe & Save or a direct add-to-next-delivery flow, since one comment says the S&S button disappeared but the direct link still worked. Another buyer reports paying $9.44 after S&S, while others question the posted discount math and coupon availability.
It does not mix as smoothly as some other vegan proteins, and one comment specifically calls out poor mixing. Another buyer says it mixed fine in a blender, so blending can help if you want a smoother shake.

EDIT: I've been dairy free for 7 years and use pea protein on a regular basis. The issue with the taste of this is not because I am comparing it to whey protein - the issue is that it tastes terrible. I have a protein shake just about every morning that consists of pure pea protein (I've had two to three different manufacturers), a scoop of Orgain (I've had about five different flavors), sometimes rice protein or peanut butter powder protein, and with a base of Ripple vegan milk that is largely pea protein. And my shake tastes good. Vega tastes like a chemical concoction.

This is marketed towards vegans or lactose intolerant individuals and not your general consumer. If you're not a vegan there's no reason purchase or knock this since the price per pound is OK
