FYI, Linked filtration system is intended for well water.

But you should really have your water tested to know which filters are most appropriate for your water. If on well water, probably also want a spin down sediment filter to capture the bigger stuff before it gets to your smaller filters.

It's not a waste, you also shower and wash/cook your food dont you? Also helps prevent rings in toilets from coming back as quickly. Also if your municipal water is good enough quality you can even just drink out of your tap with these filters

Do these filter water at the entry point to the house? If so, isn't that a waste since most of my interior water is used only to wash dishes, flush toilets? I have reverse osmosis filters but only at drinking faucets.

It's not a waste, you also shower and wash/cook your food dont you? Also helps prevent rings in toilets from coming back as quickly. Also if your municipal water is good enough quality you can even just drink out of your tap with these filters

Well kinda if they remove certain irons. BUT you can actually get softener filter for these. I keep a spare and regenerate the softener beads every 6 months

Consider a RO water faucet system at your sink.

Won't help with the hard water, but it helps with iron and manganese. I have soft water in my house and I still get rings mainly from the manganese

I have a system like this and honestly, if u live in a suburbs/city, this is perfectly fine and you most likely will only need to change the filter once a year. The cost isnt much for the 3 stage filters. Its great because you can now drink from the tap knowing the water is cleaner and safe. It works for sure because the first stage, the sediment filter has alot of dirt specs and greyish brown color about 1 year. The other two stages are heavy as they contain carbon filters.
