I think blackmagic is losing their dominance in the low-end cinema market because too many other camera brands are now offering high quality codecs.
brands like canon, sony, panasonic, etc. now offer good codecs in their cameras and they have low power usage and good autofocus
When a $200 Canon EOS M2 with hacked firmware can give 90% of what one of these expensive toys can do, it's not surprising they are dropping their prices aggressively.

Not M2, but canon cinema series like C70 or some other cameras are just simply too good compared to blackmagic
They have usable/very good autofocus. Long battery life with small batteries. Good IBIS in some models.
Even the BRAW codec that blackmagic uses has issues with green screen keying. Really just other cameras are too good

Your comparison with a purse camera is hilariously amateur. Blackmagic is still leading the entire cinema camera industry at all levels below Arri.
I know whoever posted this is likely just pulling from an automated list of price changes, but keep in mind:
The Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6k is distinctly different from the Pyxis 6k. Jamming these into one post is weird. It's like putting an iPhone and an iPad in the same post.
The Pyxis 6k comes in multiple mount options, and the one linked here (EF) is arguably the least popular.
The Pyxis 12k is actually on a limited time SALE right now (rather than a price drop).
I can't speak to the quality/experience of these cameras since I haven't used them, but at these prices I'm very intrigued. The BMD CC6K dropped by 40%, which puts its pricing in-line with cameras like the Panasonic S5II (non-x). Had it been this price when I bought my S5IIX, I simply would have bought one of these instead.

The BMCC6k got even lower to $1575 a few years ago for a couple of months during another temporary price break

In fact canon cinema series used to only record 8-bit in low end models
