Had a 5 string Gio good bass, sold it for $100 more than I paid, bought a $900 Charvel 5 string but actually missed the Gio, selling the Charvel on consignment at a local shop now, so I picked this up for $212 total (bass and tax). Thanks for the heads up.

I can't speak for the 5 string version specifically, as I had the 4 string, but these make for GREAT beginner basses. Not terribly heavy and easy to manage.

You really can't beat them for the price. I've only got the 4 string and 6. I need to get rid of th 6 as it feels like im playing a park bench.

I'm very new to playing bass, I picked up an indio jamm bass a few years ago as my first bass and like to play once in a while, but find it kind of heavy and cumbersome, and really like the idea of extended bass rang with the B string... it might make slapp a bit more challenging due to the narrower spacing, but I'll adapt... this is also way lighter, and overall a significantly higher quality instrument than my indio. I can't wait to give it a go. I couldn't pass it up for $200.
