Bought this about a 2 weeks ago when it was at a similar price. It's a nice machine. The LCD has some backlight bleed but doesn't bother me and overall the system performs well. The build quality is good - not great - with some noticeable keyboard flex, but for the price the specs are good and I don't think you give up too much with the lower powered 5070 since the performance returns per watt aren't linear towards the top of the curve. I think you may lose like 10% performance at most.

I haven't tried it yet but I've seen several threads on people successfully undervolting the 5070 to get some additional performance out of it while staying within that 85W limit.

It only has 8GB VRAM ... not sure why you'd say it's 'great' ... I guess you could use the igpu, but then it seems like you'd want one with an 890m if you're going with this generation of chip.

What model, parameter, and quant were you running? Just asking, not looking to attack.

Probably downvoted because it's a repost.

Depends on your goals I guess. It's fine if you want to run a 3-4 Billion parameter model. You aren't getting much over that though.

Great bang for buck device. Don't expect good looks and it has an odd single usbc in front making wire clutter.
