The Gen 2 is 100 times better, its thinner, lighter and the screen is much sharper. I would wait for another deal on the gen 2 way more premium just for a bit more money I have used both.

Limited updates, don't bother. The gall on these businesses selling a $300 product without long-term support. Android 16 was the last update (latest is 17), only security patches for 2 more years.

Since there is a gen 2, it is better to spend a little bit for gen 2. I ordered gen 2 a few weeks ago, as my credit company offered 9% cash back on Lenovo.com purchase. However, I am not getting a confirmation of the cash back. So, I am not totally happy about the purchase.

Still, with gen 2, the CPU is decent. AI said it is similar to high end Intel cpu performance. There is a desktop mode.

It came with a case. So, it saves you $15 to $20 for a tablet case in Amazon.
There is a pen for writing and drawing. I just tried it once to see if it works.

You can use a $15 bluetooth keyboard and a mouse to have a laptop experience on a 13 inch device.
I tried it once and it takes some time to adjust. Ironically, I used it in desktop mode to reach out to my credit company regarding the 9% cash back.

I agree it is too big as a tablet. I have to use split screen to browse. It is not heavy and it is very thin.

Find a gently used s9. They recommend the s11 isn't worth the upgrade. So stick with the s9 is what I would do. (I traded my s9 in for the s11 preorder deal - that said the s9 just felt more "at home" to me.

Thank you for this caution. The buyers need to seriously consider the lack of long term updates from Lenovo for this tab. Android 16 (ie the current one) would be the last update and security updates until January 2029.

The Gen 2 drops the fingerprint reader for whatever reason (probably cost cutting), which is an issue for those of us who care about biometrics. The limited software updates are the biggest drawback for the Gen 1 though.
