Now I have a shih tzu and full size goldendoodle. The shih tzu had no problem jumping up on my bed in his youth but his age is catching up to him. He suffered a spinal injury recently and lost a lot of motion in his back legs but luckily regained almost all back to normal. I'm hoping this will help because all it would take is landing wrong for him to reinjure himself.
