Why the price alone seals it
Durafly's 70mm EDFs normally sit in the $180–220 range. Hitting $147.19 on a PNF version — servos, ESC, fan unit, and retracts all pre-installed — is basically clearance pricing. You're only adding a receiver and a battery. Show me another 70mm EDF at this price point with this level of completion, and I'll wait.
The airframe actually flies well
The Vampire's twin-boom layout gives it a gentler stall than most 70mm jets. Compared to an F-86 or MiG-15 of the same size, it's far more forgiving on approach and much easier to land. That makes it a legit first EDF — but it's also fun enough that experienced pilots keep one around as a "no-stress" daily flyer. The V3 improved the landing gear and fan balance over previous versions, so vibration and noise are noticeably better.
The RAF camo is a bonus
Pre-painted and done well. No rattle-can work needed. Just add some contrast tape on the belly if you fly far out — camo gets hard to read against a bright sky.
Quick notes before you pull the trigger
- PNF = no receiver. Don't expect RTF.
- Plan on 4S 2200–3300mAh. Expect 3–4 minutes mixed throttle — bring spare packs.
- Stock is limited on deals like this. Once it's marked expired, it's gone.
- Buy from an authorized seller so you can actually get parts and support.
Bottom line$147.19 for a PNF 70mm Vampire V3 is a no-brainer. If you've been on the fence about getting into EDFs, this is the cheapest and easiest entry point you're going to find. If you already fly 70mm jets, this is a cheap, good-looking, easy-flying addition to the hangar. Either way, you're not going to regret it — you're going to regret waiting until it's sold out.
Mine's ordered. See you at the field.
