- Compare the # of heat pipes. 7 heat pipes vs 6 IS a difference; vs 5 or 4 even more so
- Compare fans - old vs new, higher RPM vs lower RPM, thickness of fans (thicker = usually better, but slightly harder to place in tight cases)
Failure rate of this stuff now approaches zero; not something I'd be worried about.You can typically google for reviews; TR's PA and PS 120 lineups are among the best of the air cooling, easily beating almost everything else in performance and price. In fact, I would only go with something else if you have clear needs otherwise; the PA or PS lineup is a pretty reasonable default choice for 100W++ CPUs. For 60-65W CPUs, the TR Assassin (ie not peerless), which is a single fan & simpler lineup, is (much) more than sufficient. In fact, the cheaper TR Assassin with an i7-14700k was shown to be more than sufficient in cooling - that's how good even the lower models are now.
Is a $20 Cooler from Thermalright enough to tame an i7-14700K? You might be surprised!
