Royal basmati rice is valued for its aroma, taste, and decent texture when it arrives fresh, and the bulk price can be attractive, especially with coupons or Subscribe and Save. Some bags have cooked up well in rice cookers, and sealed storage or freezing is suggested to keep larger quantities fresh. The main concern is contamination, with repeated reports of bugs, worms, pantry moths, and web-like debris in some bags. A few also find the flavor dry, bland, or not like true Indian basmati, so it is best suited to shoppers comfortable inspecting and storing rice carefully.
Common Questions (4)
The deal can drop to about $0.74/lb after coupon and cashback, which is cheaper than Sam's around $1.10/lb and comparable to Costco/BJ's pricing on 20-lb bags. The catch is that you must buy 30 lb total, so it only makes sense if you will use a lot of rice.
Some bags have arrived with small bugs, white wiggly worms, pantry moths, or black ants, and a few buyers reported web-like material inside the package. Other purchases were reported bug-free, so inspecting the bag on arrival and storing it sealed or frozen is a practical precaution.
Some buyers describe it as good-quality basmati with a nice taste and texture, especially when cooked at a 1:1 rice-to-water ratio in a Cuckoo cooker and fluffed immediately. Others call it dry, flavorless, or not like true Indian basmati, so it may not match the flavor profile of higher-end brands.
Washing the rice at least three times is recommended, and freezing a 25-lb bag for a couple of days can kill any weevils or meal moths if they are present. This is meant to reduce the chance of insect contamination and remove affected grains before cooking.

Also, if you regularly cook rice for just two or three people, 30 pounds can actually go surprisingly fast.
Regardless, I am not buying it because I am not supporting them what they are doing to other countrymen in their own country.
