I've had this for several years and it is very high quality. Keep in mind it's just the center part of the grate, you still need their compatible outer grate.

Have this, love to do the reverse sear method and finish my steaks on this grate! Provides excellent heat distribution and sear marks on the steak.

What's happened that ruined it? ... I was considering getting this for exactly that use, to put it over a vortex and seat steak at very high temp 600-800F, since cast iron can hold up to high heat. I figure the worst thing that can happen is the seasoning gets stripped, but that shouldn't ruin the grate -- just scrape and then apply some high smoke point oil like avocado oil before putting it away for storage.

it's enameled, not bare cast iron, so that high heat is going to burn that enameling right of within a minute.
