TY so much for this comment. It said it was sold out when I tried to buy the first time, so I came back here to comment that it wasn't available anymore. Saw this comment, tried again, and now I've got one pre-ordered! Hopefully it's not a system glitch and I'll actually get one, ty again!
EDIT: I got an email saying my order was cancelled because they oversold and it was out of stock, so it was just a system glitch after all unfortunately.

It is added to my cart ~ I just can't check out.


I have discovered that if you start getting "We're having trouble with your request / Please wait a moment and then try again", you're functionally blocked by Walmart.

Likely, it wanted to do some validation, but something fails and they end up blocking you. This can be resolved removing and adding your phone number again to force another validation. Just FYI for those still doing this.

I'm still trying, lol. But a bit slower to avoid the validation issue.

Based on past Nintendo releases, there will be more later, but for now it's out of stock because of hype, nostalgia, and scalpers

Unless Nintendo has explicitly stated how many, IMO, it's infinite till Nintendo thinks it is no longer worth it. This is a pretty common Nintendo release tactic ~ limited initial wave to get up hype and fan the flames of FOMO.

Do you remember the Animal Crossing edition? Sold out for almost a year, then it was readily available and eventually discounted, lol.

I got my animal crossing edition from playasia as a korean boxed version. I was as happy as a clam!

There is also now an EU variant where it has user replaceable batteries. I imagine at some point, it's going to switch over for everyone and they'll want to clear out the older SKUs.
