Lavazza Il Filtro Classico is a dark roast whole bean coffee that lands as a decent, richer cup at a very low price, with several orders coming in around $10.60 to $10.87. The beans have arrived with about a year left before expiration, and the bags were described as not burnt or stale, often still oily. It works best with a burr grinder, and oily beans can be a poor fit for espresso, especially superautomatic machines. The main caution is that the 35 percent coupon appears to be one time use only, and the roast may taste weaker than expected for a dark roast.
Common Questions (4)
The deal can work and some orders total around $10.60-$10.87, but the 35% coupon appears to be one-time use only across qualifying Lavazza products. Some shoppers could not replicate the discount with or without Subscribe & Save.
It is not a good choice for espresso if that is your goal, and oily beans are specifically bad for espresso, especially in super-automatic machines. A burr grinder is also recommended over a cheap blade grinder for better results.
The bags reportedly arrive with about a year left before expiration, and repeated orders have not been burnt or stale. Most bags still had oil on the beans, though Amazon-sourced coffee can sometimes arrive old or stale.
It is described as a bit darker and richer than Grand Crema, so fans of Grand Crema may like it. It is also described as a decent coffee, but far from freshly roasted, and one report says it tastes weak and washed out rather than like a true dark roast.
