Edit: created a new account and it worked. Great deal. Did a second order for GTA 6 for $69.
Community Reviews
This Zelda Ocarina of Time Switch 2 preorder is mainly attractive for the $10 SAVE3X discount, which drops the price to about $49.88 before tax and can also stack with existing credits. The strongest pattern is that it often works on older, non Walmart Plus accounts, especially through the Walmart app or after changing store, zip code, address, or adding a cheap filler item. The main snag is that many checkouts throw eligible items, out of stock, or promo code not valid errors, and some orders later cancel. A workable deal if the checkout hurdles clear.
The SAVE3X promo code worked for some shoppers after re-entering checkout steps.
The discount sometimes applied successfully on non-Walmart+ accounts during pre-order checkout.
Changing the default store or store selection could make the promo and checkout succeed.
Some orders completed at the promo price even after switching from pickup to delivery.
The promo code frequently failed with errors like "eligible items only" or "promo code not valid."
Out-of-stock messaging could block checkout even when the promo code applied.
Walmart+ membership often prevented the promo from working for some accounts.
Promo eligibility could change after confirming shipping address, which could remove the discount.

I ended up placing an order with my mom's address, which is ~20 minutes away. The delivery method is shown as "Delivery", which does not allow address changes, rather than "Shipping", which allows one address change. I would have to go pick it up day-of... so I'm keeping both preorders open til closer to release date so I can decide whether the $10 is worth the drive, or find out if customer service will update the address.
