No luck for me. Says code not valid.

Edit: created a new account and it worked. Great deal. Did a second order for GTA 6 for $69.

This preorder is mainly attractive because the SAVE3X code can drop Ocarina of Time to about $50 before tax, with free shipping or delivery in some cases. The game is the physical cartridge release, and the Walmart page also shows the textured foil cover art bonus. The catch is that checkout is finicky, with the code often failing as invalid or eligible items only, and stock or delivery eligibility can depend on account, store, address, device, or app versus web. A workable deal, but it may take some trial and error to land.

The SAVE3X promo code worked for some shoppers and enabled successful pre-orders at about $49.88 before tax.
truespinner qkumbr richardmmorales djjsin
The promo code sometimes worked after switching fulfillment method from pickup to delivery during checkout.
Iamthevoid malonecentral TechTerp MuchHonestBuyer
Some shoppers were able to place multiple discounted orders, including buying two copies in one checkout.
dan11wrx Cxd1995 DarianJ9131 schuaa
The promo code could apply on mobile even when desktop checkout showed out-of-stock or failed to apply.
OutlawCecil NervousJoke192 brad_headley

The promo code frequently failed with errors like "promo code not valid" or "eligible items only" even after re-entering it.
kenub927 cobolisdead darabo JonathanJ9886
Out-of-stock messaging could block checkout even when the promo code applied successfully.
matthewusa2000 djjsin WhatIsSlicking freakinspice
Promo eligibility appeared dependent on account status, store location, and device, requiring workarounds like changing default store or using a different account.
bluekiwi dox83 zaxaboom234 Harmonica
Some orders were later canceled due to quantity limits or fulfillment issues, even after the checkout initially succeeded.

Common Questions (5)

Common fixes were changing the default store or ZIP, switching from pickup to delivery, using the Walmart app instead of desktop, and retrying after removing and re-adding the item. Some shoppers also got it to work by adding a cheap filler item, applying the code, then removing the extra item before checkout.
QueensGambit Iamthevoid GreenCrayon922 rKhayd
The code is tied to Walmart pickup or delivery eligibility, and some accounts or addresses trigger an error that the item is not eligible. It can also fail if the checkout is set to shipping instead of delivery/pickup, or if the account/store/address combination is not accepted.
kenub927 cobolisdead w4ffles CoolClover263
Yes. A new account often made the code apply when an existing account failed, especially when paired with a different phone number, email, or address. Some shoppers also had success only after using the Walmart app on the new account.
AmusedFruit6548 dasb44 caceves3 distancing
The order can still be canceled later, and some shoppers kept an Amazon preorder as backup because of that risk. Others reported successful confirmations and reorders after canceling higher-priced preorders, but one prior Walmart Switch 2 preorder was canceled on release day due to a card-hold issue.
rainmanx2 labdab2 sman789 sonofsomething
Yes, it can work without Walmart+. Many successful checkouts were on regular non-Walmart+ accounts, including older accounts and first-time Walmart users, and the final price was about $49.88-$50 before tax.

Code does not work at all, have WM+ and have changed default store a bunch of times, just says the code is not valid.

Edit: Even tried making new account, "account unable to be created". Seems to be some lucky glitch.

had given up but decided to try creating a new acct. just opened up a new private window in FF. wouldnt let me use a disposable email. once i used a new/legit email, wouldnt let me use the same phone number that is on my original acct, so used a new phone number to get to next step. used my original delivery address and would not let me create the account. used a diff address and was able to create the new acct and apply the code. went through checkout using PP (same that I use on my original acct) and just before completing the purchase, the discount got removed. updated payment to a new CC that is not on my original acct and was able to finally purchase at $54.74 (after CA tax). never worked so hard for a $10 discount in my life 🤣

Code didn't work. We don't have Walmart+ (but we did in the past). Tried a new account, that didn't work either. Finally just contacted support and they gave a promo code that worked. YMMV.

I couldn't get it to work at all on my main account, but I made a new account real quick with a different phone # and email. It immediately worked and allowed me to ship to my address.

Worked for me twice. Well once on my shared account, but I cancelled the order. Second on a newly created account for myself. The code wouldnt take until you at least enter the shipping and billing address. Once those are done at checkout, then it accepted the code.

NOT a Walmart+ member either.

Nice $20 off, and repped!

How can I get the SAVE3X code to apply if checkout says out of stock or invalid?

Why does the SAVE3X promo say it is only valid for eligible items or pickup and delivery orders?

Can creating a new Walmart account make the SAVE3X deal work?

Will the preorder stay at the discounted price, or can Walmart cancel it later?
