Doesn't Uber charge more for those with gift card balances? Business Insider etc. suggest wealthier spending habits affects prices, no?

Same with not-said-but-inferred higher prices for lower battery and other desperation measures...

But probably enough chances of beating a particularly bad Lyft and Waymo price combo to warrant this

Firstly, the offer is available when you go into the section "send a gift" as i initially struggled to find it. Secondly, for payments not going through, i had to choose the "other option to verify" where it sent two small transactions to my Amex account and i verified those transaction amounts. Both were less than 2 dollars each. It declined initially on my other cards.

We have two accounts in family with their own Uber one subscriptions , but only one got the offer that was used more actively

I needed to verify the card by having uber charge two small amounts .63 and .95 in my case and then enter them in after finding them on my pending charges. Then I got the transaction declined by my credit card's fraud prevention (Chase). After I texted them back that I had authorized the charge, I tried one more time and it went through. So a bit annoying but worth it in the end.

I was also getting payment error and had to go through same process and it finally went through.

How much are you trying to buy? I assume $500 or close to it?

I haven't had any issues but I'm in the $200 or lower amounts.

Another thought was whether you used a payment method you've already used to pay Uber/UberEats multiple times...given it's already made payments without issue, then it's essentially verified.
