Never buying one of these twist and fold sunshades again. They're a pain to fold/unfold, large and unmanageable. The metal frame, even though it's not directly exposed, scuffs up your dash when you're trying to put it in place or fold it back up.

I have one I bought several cars ago at Sharper Image in the 90s. Use daily, never seen any scuffing and it slips right into my seat slot for storage. Slightly fraying in places but still works perfectly. Opens and closes in a second once you master the twist. However, I've tried to replace it and all the new ones I've found use thinner metal and fabric, and tend to be garbage to work with. If I could locate somewhere with that Sharper Image quality one I'd buy up a few as spares. Seems another product that was designed and worked well early on, but knock offs made of cheaper materials came in and ruined the reputation. I've tried those humungous folding units, which are also flimsy most of the time, they take up a lot of space to store and are time consuming to fit into the window (but have better insulation than the circular folding design).

I'm not sure if you're referring to the Covercraft ones - I recently purchased my fifth one for three cars, and the price increases for a "made in USA" advertised product with a "made in Mexico" label that has a finite lifespan and is absolutely not BIFL have almost, but not quite, led me to seriously consider some kind of homemade contraption, since their competitors appear to be pricematching their increases. They're expensive and cumbersome, but not quite as terrible as doing without ... or doing with the $7.00 stuff.
I'd love for any suggestions of something that's at least half as good for less than half the price, because it's hard to believe there's just nothing else out there.
