I have one and like it but I have a $50 Google TV streamer from ONN/Walmart that I like just as much at this point.

I've been looking at the Onn pro for a while and it keeps going in and out of stock. Might pick this up though for my Shield.Love my Apple TV for one of my TVs, but not purchasing one of those until they update the product especially for the current price.

Meanwhile I'm looking to get one and they still $200 with no new model in sight. Oh, they're at times sold out too.

My dad still uses my 2015 and I use my 2017 and 2019 daily. Can't believe how well they work for me.

That being said, I really would like to buy an upgraded one someday.

I had bought one yesterday at this price, it was stuck at $30 for as long as i can remember. I just googled that you can use the Onn streamer remote on the nvidia shield. I would have been happy with that. Edit: see comment below, Onn remote has connection issues with Shield

Heh that's what I've been doing! Got the onn streamer for $10 just to use its remote with my Shield!

That said I'm tempted to get this now, although I've been pretty happy with the Onn remote.

The Onn streamers all increased in price and continue to sell out. I think it will be difficult to will find an Onn streamer for $10, however you can buy replacement Onn remotes from Onn and 3rd parties.

NVidia Shield is the only streamer that takes any low resolution video and upscales it to 4K. It works flawlessly every time. It also has every codec for every surround sound mode. If your a person that just has a tv without a surround sound system then this is probably not for you but for home theater buffs, Nothing even comes close with picture, sound and the ability to uses it as a plex or other server. That's where the money is well spent. I have a 2105 and a 2109 pro, both have been working perfect since day one.

I got the onn pro to use the backlit remote on a Shield. It doesn't stay hooked up that well. Constantly have to reset it. The back light doesn't stay on very long at all on the onn remote. I still have the remote in a drawer somewhere with the onn box. Ended up just replacing with the genuine remote. I don't like the triangle of the Shield remote but it works better than the onn remotes do and is unfortunately the best one that Nvidia put out for the shield. They seem to be able to design almost anything to work well but a remote control. This one works but the shape is awkward and you're constantly hitting the stupid Netflix button that you can reprogram, but it's still pain and the find the remote is so quiet you better not lose it in the cushions. It has to be sitting right out in the open in front of you to find it but it works well otherwise.

Is Shield a massive upgrade for regular viewing? I use Sling on our 85" Samsung.
Thanks!

I'm wondering the same thing. I've been using firesticks for years and wondering if the up scaling of the sheild is better?

It will upscale your 1080 resolution to 4K which makes a huge difference plus if you have a home theater the sound will be far better with all of the Dolby codecs.
