The MX Anywhere 2S stands out as a compact travel mouse with strong multi device support, handy for switching between a desktop, laptop, and work machine. It has long battery life, with work use stretching to about six months between charges, and the tilting scroll wheel still helps with horizontal scrolling or volume control. The Actions Ring in Options Plus is another useful extra. The main drawback is the micro USB charging port, and there are reports of main buttons sticking or double clicking after a couple of years.

Common Questions (5)

  • This unit is the micro-USB version, not USB-C. The port is called out as annoying, though the battery life is still described as pretty good.

  • Some units reportedly develop main-button sticking or double-clicking after a couple of years. Other owners report 7-8 years of use with no issues, so longevity appears to depend on the individual unit.

  • Battery life is reported as very good for work use, with charging needed about every six months. Another long-term owner also says the battery life has been solid over years of use.

  • The Bluetooth Edition is described as Bluetooth-only in this thread, with no confirmation that it works with a Unifying receiver. If you want the smoother receiver-based connection, this model may not be the right pick.

  • Yes, it supports multi-device use and is used across desktop, laptop, and work laptop setups. That makes it practical if you switch between computers often.

I have been using the AA-battery version for many years. It holds two batteries but only needs one to work. Much better than the rechargeable in my opinion, especially this one with a micro-USB port.

'like new' as judged by whom??? $25 for a new one would be great. For a used though....

BTW, does the bluetooth edition ONLY work with bluetooth, or does it also still work with a unifying receiver like the old models? In my experience the Unifying receiver has been a better connection and smoother flow compared to the mice with BT I've tried.

You can get a brand new Logitech 305 mouse for $36

The new warranty is worth some value.

Keep in mind wireless input devices are more of a security risk. OTA intercept.

This is still a great mouse. Yes, the microUSB is annoying, but I always have a 3-in-1 USB cable that I travel with so it's never an issue for charging. The two features that I like on this admittedly old mouse are that it has the tilting scroll wheel which Logitech removed from the MX Anywhere 3 and 3S. I find this very useful for scrolling horizontally on spreadsheets or you can map it to volume control as well. The second nice feature is the Actions Ring in Options+. It's remarkable that something that old still supports such a new feature. I doubt many people use it, but when you have a workflow that you train yourself to, that feature is outstanding.

Pretty impressive for a 9 year old computer mouse.
