As much as I love a good deal, I would never suggest anyone skimp on a fishing reel. Losing a fish defeats the whole purpose of fishing. I assume this reel is on par with those 15 dollar rod and reel combos. Reels mean more than rods. If your drag doesn't work well you can lose fish. If its not smooth you may lose fish. If there is too any plastic parts, it will loosen the joints faster and you may lose fish. If you plan to fish but are willing to take chances to lose the fish, go to the supermarket and buy the fish instead. Even for a novice, I wouldn't suggest getting something this. Go get a trusted brand with a model that's had many iterations. There are so many of them and sales are common. Spend about 50 bucks for your reel on sale and you can leave your worries behind.
