I have had two Echos (4th gen) serving as my "home theater" for years at this point. Tried this sound system, but it was so bad I returned it after two weeks. My echos sound better..

Edit: not trying to convince anyone to get echos instead of this. This is just a comparison between crappy echos and this crappy sound system

This system is the exact twin to the Hisense AX5140Q which RTINGS gave a score of 8.1 out of 10. The AX5140Q retails for $350 vs $250. $200 is a bargain for this system. Whoever said the FireTV Plus with sub is better is deaf. I own both. The FireTV is assigned to the garage.

Pretty incredible you can get a full surround system with 4 upward firing speakers for $200. Having a flat ceiling will be important if you care about that feature

It's a great system with "true" up firing rear speakers and no virtual processing. As I posted earlier, it's the twin to the highly regarded AX5140Q which lists for $100 more. I do wish there was a dedicated app for fine tuning rather than using their ConnectLife app, it works though.

Are they true wireless or do you have to connect the rear speakers. Also does the status lights on the front remain on and viable at all times or can they be turned off ?

The rear speakers need to be plugged into a power source, but are wirelessly connected to the system. There's a red power indicator that stays on when the system is powered down, but the source/menu display can be dimmed when the system is on.
