The MX Master 4 for Mac is a premium productivity mouse, and this used listing stands out for its low price and near new condition. The updated surface material is said to resist grease and stickiness better, and Bluetooth pairing works well for everyday use. The Mac version uses the newer Bolt receiver and Bluetooth, while the regular MX Master 4 adds a receiver and broader PC and Mac compatibility. The main caution is the second hand factor and the Mac only compatibility, so it fits best if you want the Mac model and can live without the receiver.

Common Questions (4)

  • No. The Mac version is described as using Bluetooth and not including a Bolt receiver, while the non-Mac version is the one said to come with Bolt.

  • Yes, Bluetooth works well and can be used instead of Bolt. It may be the better option if you want to avoid receiver interference, though Bolt is also reported to be more responsive in some setups.

  • The Mac version is reported to work over Bluetooth on a PC, but it does not include the Bolt receiver. The regular MX Master 4 is the version described as including the receiver and being the safer pick if you want broader PC/Mac flexibility.

  • The unit was reported as arriving sealed in a box that did not look opened and as being basically mint condition. It also paired and worked normally over Bluetooth on a PC.

It don't work with unify receivers. Only bolt or bluetooth. Bluetooth is great on it so you won't miss bolt. I have bolt but i prefer bluetooth since bolt works on 2.4GHz and can experience interference.
This is comically bad advice; Bluetooth is on unlicensed 2.4GHz spectrum too, and performs noticeably worse than Bolt in terms of responsiveness and activation time.

my experience was otherwise. Bolt had tons of interference and lag while bluetooth BLE was working perfect. Comical or not it was my practical experience and other's may have different experience. Use as you wish.

Has anyone used this vs the MX 3? the previous version, what's your verdict. My MX3 has rubber melting whenever i use it and it's really gross.

That's exactly the main and most valued thing addressed by the MX4 update: the new material of its surface is less vulnerable to grease and stickiness. I can vouch for that.

But Logitech is notorious for their mouse buttons going bad after about three years -- how convenient to make us buy in again! -- yet I took another roll of the dice.
