Maybe it's just me but it seems dumb to spend that much on a turntable only to send that audio through Bluetooth.

Agreed. But thankfully the it has traditional RCA outs, as well USB output, which is cool.

It probably cost Sony 3 bucks per unit to throw a Bluetooth module in there. Now they can slap the Bluetooth logo in the box and enough people who don't know anything about hifi will buy it based on that to justify the cost. Doesn't mean it's a bad turntable. More a marketing decision than anything else.

I agree but a lot of people wouldn't hear the difference (or enough of a difference) anyway, so this just adds a ton of wireless convenience for people wanting to listen to their vinyl.
