This Energy RC bundle is a strong home theater and music package built around neutral, smooth sounding towers, a matching center, and bookshelf speakers that many find detailed without harshness. The set is described as heavy, solid, and still competitive years after release, with the RC 70s and RC LCR doing especially well for dialogue and full system synergy. A subwoofer is still needed for true full range output, and the main caution is Adorama shipping and support, where damaged boxes, replacement mixups, and long delays have been reported. A good fit if you want classic Energy sound and can get an intact shipment.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes, shipping damage and fulfillment problems have been reported often enough to be a real risk, especially with the heavy RC-70 towers. Several orders arrived damaged or were mishandled in replacement processing, so this deal is best if you are comfortable dealing with possible returns or exchanges.

  • The RC series is generally described as neutral rather than warm, with even frequency response instead of exaggerated highs and boomy lows. Some listeners still find them too bright or sibilant, especially if they are sensitive to aluminum tweeters.

  • At $799, the bundle is considered a strong price for a 5-speaker Energy RC setup, especially compared with past individual prices that totaled about $1,050. The main caveat is that the value depends on receiving undamaged units.

  • It includes two RC-10 bookshelf speakers, and they arrive together in a single box. The listing text can make it look like only one is included, but the bundle is a 5-speaker set.

  • A subwoofer is strongly recommended for solid full-range performance. The RC-70s can handle a lot on their own, but the system is much better with a sub for low-end extension and home theater impact.

Bought this. You get 5 speakers just in case the shopping cart trips you up as well. They sound and look beautiful; can't compare to the old stuff but these things are HEAVY-nothing tells me these are different than the old-school speakers.

I believe Adorama mistakenly shows them as "Pair: 59.6 lbs". Everywhere else seems to show them as 59.6 lbs individually.

Do these towers come with the spike kit and foam inserts for the rear ports?

Don't get anxious. If you know what good speakers sound like you will hate these.
Can you explain what you mean? What would you buy as an alternative?

/Great to know, Didn't expect them to come with the full package of accessories. I had seen other RC-70's towers in the past where the spikes and port plugs were not included.

Good find

I'm going to start to get anxious that I'll never see this deal again, considering I'm at the stage where I'd normally be spending this much for a single tower.
I wouldn't be too worried as this deal has happened once in March, once in July, twice in August and once in September.

It's not a rare occurrence.

I wonder where they are getting these speakers. I bought a set of RC50, RCR, RCLCR in 2010 and they were on clearance back then, I think they had discontinued the line that year or 2011. I still have and use them every day and never felt the need to upgrade, I think they are great. A lot of my friends and family over the years have upgraded from soundbars or stock TV speakers after hearing this setup. Some people will find they are tuned too warm for their preferences, but my ears are very sensitive to sibilance and bright tuned speakers so I find these relaxing to listen to.

Someone that received this setup from Adorama this year posted they had a 2025 or 2026 mfr date. It appears the parent company has bought them back and are in current production.

Same size, weight and specs as models from mid 2000's and early 2010's.

Great deal if you can get them shipped for this price with no damage.

These Energy RC are not known to be "warm" in the same sense that say, Wharfedale Diamond 11 series are. They are more of a "neutral" speaker, meaning that you get even frequency response rather than having exaggerated highs and boomy lows like the typical Def Tech or SVS Prime type of speaker. Floyd Toole and Harman did some pretty extensive "listener preference tests" back in the late 60s, 70s and 80s where it was supposedly proven that the majority of listeners prefer exactly this type of "neutral" sound signature under blind ABx testing.

Adorama, Amazon, etc. frequently have tons of mistakes in their listings. These RC70 are 60# apiece. https://www.soundandvision.com/co...ce-ratings

It's so bad I even noticed they were floating store credit on my account while this was happening. Very trusting of them to assume anyone wouldn't just go in and use the credit and think it was free money or some shit... they're beyond pathetic.
That's crazy and I am in the exact same boat here. I am presently waiting to receive my fourth replacement RC-70 unit. So far it's been shipping damage on almost every order plus a mix of terrible QC from Energy.

I also had to request multiple labels and specify more than once that the bookshelf speakers and RC-70 were separate units. I snapped photos and chat logs through the whole process as I had zero expectation it was being handled correctly.

My replacement bookshelf units at least look to be in much better shape. The units from my original order had the veneer cut/applied so poorly that the speakers did not even have straight corners. Every edge was wobbly with the MDF cab below showing through.

That's insane. I'm going to push them now for a full refund as I can't trust them to do anything right, but first I demanded their CS give me the contact information directly to someone within their corporate office. I'm going on days now with no response. They are cowards.

That's exactly my frustration. I figured they would have the means to connect me to someone in their store or HQ. I mean they have to have people in the damn building, right?
Did you have any lucky contacting Energy directly? I tried their support email and that was a dead outlet. I am still stuck in limbo waiting to receive my last tower undamaged. So far I have received three replacement units all damaged. I had one with a fraying cone right out of the box even.

Adorama is taking the piss when it comes to just packaging the damn things up correctly.
