FYI, these will be all over FB Marketplace for $125-$150 in a few weeks since it was a Warmer Summer and many people don't want to store them for next season. You may even get a 12,000 btu one too.

This one has heat and an inverter though, the cheap FB marketplace units are usually a/c only and old school loud units.

Yea these are nice. I use them all year long, summer for cool, winter for heat. The heat can work when it's below 32 outside, but becomes inconsistent by then. It works best in the 40s. I had mine for 5 years now always mounted and never taken down, I liked it so much I bought another unit 2 years ago. I will never go back to traditional acs. I hear the u shaped are quieter but those only have cooling so I still think these are better. Maybe mini splits are better overall since those don't take up a window, but those are much more expensive and a bigger project.

I know there was the recall but it still creates mold. Mine is the updated version with the hole to let it drain and yet when I go in and clean it... filthy. Mold on the flapper (that moves up and down), mold on the plastic back piece, and can't tell on the squirrel cage but it's likely a mix of dust and mold but there's a lot of it after just one summer. Make sure you clean it out once in a while...

Just realized its not the U series but the above is likely still valid as it's still Midea and inverter type.

I have one of these in one of the bedrooms and that room always gets colder in the winter. The heat this gives off is... Best way I can put it is softer heat. It doesn't feel anything like an electric heater. And the nice thing is I can set timers for certain times of the day. Like run it before the most expensive time of the day to cool the room down and then turn back on during off peak hours. In the winter I have it automatically set to 70 so every night it turns on all my itself and keeps the room cozy. And then I'm the morning it turns off. Never really have to touch the settings. these window heat pumps are fantastic. I won't go back to other AC units.

Can speak on this specific unit but i can with the brand. I've had 2 From this brand, the U shape window inverter and the portable AC inverter with dehumidifier 12000btu unit. The first one i had to return after 1 yr due to a known motherboard problem. Good thing i bought it from Costco so no problems with the return. I used that credit to buy the 12000btu portable AC inverter. It was good for a year, then this summer it started acting up, showing ELOC error message. At time it would work, at times it showed the Error. When it cooled, it didn't feel as cold as before. So I'm returning it to Costco as soon as colder weather kicks in. And it's a heavy one to carry. Uhg

change the rubber plug, clean it out, or pull the plug on occasion. the plug seems to be some material the water leaks through, so i just wash it. they gave me a bag full of extra plugs.

also i tilt the AC unit extra good and sometimes runs out over the edge too. YMMV.

Seems to be an odd one-off occurrence. Ours are going on 5+ years with zero issues.

You should be cleaning ANY window AC once every 3-6 months. It happens with ALL of them, unless you live in an ideal climate.

Just like how any window AC works. Hot air and condensation goes outside. I have been using my exclusively for dehumidifying. It does a great job at it.

Can't speak for this exact model, but typically window A/Cs with dehumidification just run as a regular air conditioner but with the indoor fan at a very low speed.
So the heat is vented outside unlike a stand alone dehumidifier.

Does it have an app and wifi connectivity? Need those for time control etc shutdown power via a plug usually is not recommended for AC.

The best method I've found to prevent mold in any window unit is to set the timer to run for 30-60min in fan only mode before shutting off. You can also get cheap sheets of carbon filters that you can cut and add as a pre-filter inside before the a/c unit's filter to help trap dust. They're easy to clean and replace when needed. I've also had success using decon 30 to occasionally spray into the vent when the unit isn't running for a bit to help prevent mold. You can also use it if doing a deep clean to remove mold.
