As cats age, their protein requirements increase due to reduction in digestive efficiency. Many cats of 12 or more years of age should be fed a diet containing nearly 50% protein.

Even the higher protein canned foods have at most 15% by weight from what what I have seen.
Pretty sure this cat food and others are fine. I do kibble as my cats eat dry kibble with no issues.
