Home Depot has a better deal including a 9ah battery at $329. This is a great saw BTW. Some say it's heavy, I don't think it's bad especially for the power behind it.

Its the drive style. The motor sits parallel to the blade and goes through a worm drive to the saw. They typically weigh more but have more power than a direct drive. So it depends on what youre doing whether its worth it. If you look on reddit people argue either way.

I have this saw. It's a heavy beast that does a great job for it's purpose. Like 4togrfr, I also got it with a 9ah deal for around $330 and consider that still a good deal.
