Star Trek Lower Decks is the animated Trek series that best captures the franchise's classic exploratory, problem solving spirit while leaning into animation for bigger visual gags and ideas. It lands especially well for fans of Futurama, Rick and Morty, or Gravity Falls, and the crossover with Strange New Worlds is worth revisiting. The set also bundles 50 half hour episodes, which makes the current price feel a little steep for some. As a complete series release, it is a solid way to own a standout modern Trek entry.
The animated format enables story and visual ideas that would not be possible in live action Trek.
Lower Decks carries an exploratory, problem-solving tone similar to TNG and Voyager while staying true to the original spirit.
The series can serve as an entry point into Star Trek and lead viewers to watch TNG and Voyager.
The Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds crossover is worth multiple rewatches for fans of current Trek.
The "Complete Series" label can feel disappointing when the viewer has already watched everything and wanted more.
The full-series set may omit digital copy codes even when some individual releases include them.
The complete set price can feel steep for 50 half-hour episodes, with some shoppers waiting for a Black Friday deal.
