If you are in zone 7 or lower, the best and greatest tasting fig tree is the one that can survive and produce the most figs in your zone. If you are in zone 7, 8, or 9, you don't have any limitations.

This one's got great flavor but I wish I could find a Desert King Fig Tree. We had one years ago and they were DELICIOUS!

This one's great if you need a compact size too!

They are a berry type fig. If you let them mature, they are tasty in hand and fresh. I personally think the price is a bit high for a 2 gallon pot, but you can also easily generate cutting to sell from this, making back a few bucks. FWIW, I grow 12 different varieties of figs. Grow this and a Brown Turkey fig and you wont need to plant another

I've had one of these for about five years in Zone 7b, and each year it grows to a massive size, with very few figs. YMMV. The figs are very tasty.

So if you live in zone 5 or 6 Chicago Hardy is one of the most northern grown figs varieties available. Mine died to the ground last year yet produced fig on the new growth. The bush has three and four foot new branches this season.
