I bought this for the $195 for the few minutes that it was on sale but ultimately canceled after some research. Impact drivers do not really benefit from higher voltage other than better thermals/energy transfer. Some Youtube vids I watched between the 36 vs 18v model proved that. Unless you are driving heavy fasteners all the time all day long this does not perform any faster/better than the 18v triple hammer witch I already own might just last a bit longer but I like running these impacts as light as possible with a 2ah battery, unless I need the extra power witch with the 36v model the lightest battery you could put on would be a 5ah 18v equivalent. I could not justify buying the "deal" even though I really wanted to lol.

This. I have the 18V version and it consistently punched above it's weight. Tack on the fact that the battery is lighter and it's a no brainer to not "upgrade."

I am considering the 36v @$200 or the 18v Bolt @130. I realize that 36v has no advantage on the impact driver, but I have many other tools from the lineup that could benefit from the 5AH battery. And when I want to go light I can just use one of my many 2AH packs. Question; which is better in my scenario and does the 36v impact have longer runtime with its battery than 18v impact with 2/2.5AH?

I have both the high-end 18v and this 36v Metabo and I can definitively say the 36v is much stronger. I barely ever use my 18v anymore. In fact, if weight is an issue, I pull out the really basic 18v Hitachi impact I bought my girlfriend with the 1.5ah battery (which feels like a toy now)

This, I built a 2700' barndominium with one of these and the metabo 30° framing nailer. The battery would usually last all day and I really doubt weight is an issue for most people. A smaller battery would get in more locations. This thing leaves my 20v dewalts in the dust.

Deal is dead but no, 36v battery only on this impact. Yes you can use the 36v on an 18v as they are backwards compatible. Just not forwards compatible lol
