That's not only $10 cheaper, but you get 6 months of free ink instead of 3 months.

But you need to buy only HP inks which are expensive. Can't use third party ink anymore.

Yup, according to reviews, HP seems to force the subscription model and total phone access in order to get the "free ink." There also appear to be numerous non-ink issues as well.

It's difficult to find a decent, reasonably priced printer now!

Ended up getting the $40 HP printer with 6 free months of ink.

Be aware, you have to sign up within 7 days to get the free ink.

I am currently trying to locate any promo code that may be required, but it does not appear to be listed on any of the papers that came with the printer. When signing up, there is a specific place where a promo code can be entered.

According to their phone system, no code is required as long as one signs up within 7 days.

I think it's actually 7 days after first registering, not 7 days after you receive the printer. Do everything right away and hopefully you may still be ok.

I selected 25 prints per month at $3.50 or so per month, the second lowest plan. It appears the plan can be changed at any time - not sure exactly how that works. I selected printing only, no paper, without entering any code. The system gave me the free 6 months and it states I won't be charged until March. I took some screenshots, just in case.

There are many plans for printing only or printing plus paper. The plans range from 10 pages per month to hundreds of pages per month.

There are several steps involved. It's too much trouble, imo.

EDIT: Too much trouble, but I realized this too far into the process to stop! laugh out loud

I used a PC laptop only, and it worked for the app. There was no "total phone access" requirement for me.
