I haven't been massively impressed by the Edition XS... Good bass and wide soundstage but clarity seemed worse than the Sennheiser 560S to me. Also, needed a 3rd party strap to be comfortable. These much better?

A reviewer said edition XS is better every way. It depends on who is listening. I had Drop X4, a version of 400SE, I found XS is quite similar, not much different.

Yeah, I guess it is all super subjective. I also think there's some truth that headphone sound is something that you get used to and then like. I can definitely appreciate the technical aspects of the Edition XS. The bass is nice but clear. There is really noticeable separation in instruments. Classical music feels like you're sitting in the front row. But there's something messy in the sound to me, but that could well just be me.
But I do think there's a pretty broad consensus that the Edition XS needs a 3rd party strap to be comfortable for long listens. You read a lot of: "maybe this is fine for someone with a big head" but I'm someone with a big head and I needed a strap. And even then, it's not nearly as comfortable as my Sennheiser 560S. I really want to try some 660S2 but they're over $400...
